ABOUT US
Finalist winner 2004, 2005 top 5% floral designer Qld. Winner 2006 and 2007 We are a floral design
studio and
art studio, located in Yandina on the Sunshine Coast, Mandy was trained in
Adelaide by Steve Russell and Nick Bambacus in 1982. In 1984 Mandy and her
new husband moved to Cairns where she bought a shop in Westcourt Plaza. Servicing the Local
resorts as well as Port Douglas, Groote Islandt & Thursday Island, Cape
York including the beautiful Wilderness Lodge, Mandy’s work has developed and
matured with a flair for colour and innovation in beautiful-sometimes simple,
sometimes elaborately stunning designs that have won awards and made
thousands of people happy. I began painting in
1990 and exhibited around Cairns, I soon discovered that my work made people
smile. I painted the fairer side of life. In my “grotto series”
I have shown the fish in safe places with the danger (shark) a long way off. I believe that even
when we are in danger there is always a safe place to be. For me, God has
always been there, if I don’t close the door on Him. He is not pushy, he will
never invade your space. I may not see Him in certain areas that have been
hard, but if I ask where were you in that situation, He always shows me. I
was indeed safe although I couldn’t see it at the time. I love colour along
with balance and I love movement. “I am dealing with
people from birth to death, through the high and low times of their lives
through my floral design work and I want to be there to make a difference to
the people I come in contact with, not just sell them a product.” Mandy said.
Moving to the Sunshine Coast in 1992 we have made a home here and love it. Having had 3 stores here on the coast we presently have a beautiful 45m sq studio in Yandina, we find being close to the highway north and south means travel time is short whether we head to Noosa, Caloundra, or Maleny as we so often only have a couple of hours notice with flower orders. customers often comment on the birds singing in the background, That is because Mandy has aviaries of colourful birds right outside the studio in her courtyard area. Mandy.. You've heard enough about me. I'm the bossy one. Shaun has worked in the family business for over 12 years now, Mandy's son, concentrates on many background jobs that make the studio and events setup run smoothly. Customers have commented since he was a small boy that he is friendly, knowledgable and very capable. Doing many of the deliveries and is our perfectionist on site! He can spot a crooked bow from across the room. he has pulled many an all nighter to make sure everything runs smoothly, getting bossed around and singing us his favorite tunes to keep our stress levels down. We will miss whe he finishes his teaching degree! Naomi has been with us for nearly 12 months and is also Mandys niece, she has the family artistic flair and is producing work of superior quality and often unique wow factors, under the close eye of her tutor. Kyle is also our young energetic behind the scenes guy, also Mandy's son, ready for the heavy jobs and great at last minute tasks. Many an evening sees him getting our creative gear organized and ready to go out the next morning, wiring and taping and making sure, we are fed when we are busy . 'Many hours and sometimes days go into preparation for some events and weddings, so without our behind the scenes technicians, checking details and pitching in, we would literally fall apart at the seams before we even began. The end result which often looks so simple and natural is in no small way dependant on all of us using our unique gifts to try to create perfect ambience and the least stress to our clients by taking every little detail into consideration, the boys often come up with innovative ideas and plans that make events set ups run even smoother' Mandy says.

Christian, Mandy believes her life should be an example of love and the creativity God has given her
as a gift to others. Going the extra mile to ensure that however short

is they feel better about themselves and enjoy her artwork for years to come. The eagle is a symbol
of far sight, strength and majesty. The eagle is at
peace.- To walk in a state of rest outside the circumstances and tragedies of
life is my goal, so that I can always be available to others even if I am in
hard times. In my weakness, God can be strong through me. The eagle encompasses
a single rose.- Roses have thorns which to me suggests life….Beautiful but
often painful if held tightly, thorns can be removed
carefully. In 1998 Mandy began
teaching floristry, receiving her
workplace trainer/ assessor certificate 4 and Literacy and Numeracy Volunteer Tutor
certificate. Also a number of counselling courses to better understand those she would be teaching. After multiple awards in floral design and multiple business awards between 1994 and 2005 Mandy won the Australian Bridal Industry Academy's award for excellence in 2006 and in 2007 in her field of floral design for Qld, over 148 florists Qld wide were nominated and voted for on all aspects of their business. Mandy says: I feel so honoured to receive this award as it is only your past clients who can nominate and vote, so it is a very fair and reliable system and gives potential clients a real indication of the reliability of suppliers. The clients deal straight with the academy so all comments bad and good are judged. We can't screen them. 2007 15th May 2007 Mandy was totally stunned and honoured to realize that not only had she had the privilege of being involved in making her clients most special day perfect but she also looked up at the screen with shock as her name made the top 10 list in Qld, then the top 5, then the top 3... and to her amazement a pause was forthcoming as her name was announced as 2007s winner of the Australian Bridal Industry Academy's Golden award for excellence for the second year in a row! Knowing a little more about how the system works this year she realised that her past clients were rating her quality of service, quality of product, value for money and attitude of staff. so to rank so highly in all those areas, it is no surprise that Mandy was a little awestruck by her overall win and that her brides thought so highly of her efforts to make their day something to remember.
16th May 2006, past brides from across the globe nominated 148 Qld florists as being the best floral designer, so pleased were they with quality and service. Mandy was the winner out of 14 Qld finalists for the prestigious Golden Australian Bridal Industry Academy Awards for excellence in her category of floral design. Mandy says "I won I won I won!!!! THANKYOU SOOOO MUCH all my beautiful clients who voted for me in the 5 categories, I am so glad you enjoyed my designs and passion for your day so much.
