this course is presented by Mandy Mulick, a multi award winning florist/ artist and instructor  with over 25 years experience in the florist industry as a floral designer. Mandy has been running  floral design courses teaching techniques and sharing industry savvy with her students for over 10 years. Her intimate class sizes of 3 -5 per class ensure that each student is given the time and instruction necessary to give a grounded knowledge and skill base to launch you into this very rewarding industry. Whether you plan on entering floristry as a profession or just a hobby then this course will start you off in the right direction.

This course is designed to teach all aspects of retail floristry  in a fully operational studio environment.

Mandy says "because florists deal with people at all the important times of their lives, from birth to death we create from our heart, but we must have the skill to pick up a flower without bruising it and in  the same manner deal with our customers, relationship marketting is our field. We have to learn not only balance, style and colour  in floral design but I try to give my students a knowledge of integrity based work ethics too in a highly competitive market.

Learning to skip from left brain to right brain is extremely important and this course helps you to work both sides at the same time.

I teach cost effective designwork in an intimate setting and take a holistic approach to teaching.

i have done marketting courses, management courses, art courses, counselling courses and teaching courses and i think i still enjoy this method of teaching the best.

The feed back I receive from past students is extremely positive so i know that i am doing something worthwhile.

Equal first place winner, winner, finalist and nominee for some of Qld and Sunshine Coasts most prestigious awards, including  Australian Bridal Industry Awards, Floral Art championship awards, Interflora awards, Sunshine Coast Businesswomens excellence in business Awards.

God has gifted me creatively and I am a full time student of life and know how challenging the world is . I use that Spirit to empower others to succeed in their chosen field."

from recent open floral demonstration day.

Dear passionate floral lovers,
Thank you to those of you who attended our 2007 demonstration day.
some very intelligent questions were raised and i hope were answered with pizzazz and useful insights.
your feedback from the day and involvement was fabulous. those "hands on" girls really had fun and i think learnt more than a thing or two.
Hopefully the information sheet on advanced techniques will give you a few new trick of the trade to keep your employers or future employers happy and for the home enthusiasts, gave you an idea of how a florists mind never rests and never stops learning.
i have attached photos of the designs I created for you and though you'll have to guess as to how they were done if you weren't there, it will pique your interest for next time.
i have also attached a copy of some of the concepts we covered.
9191 a bamboo tepee with an asymmetrical design of plaited palm, cymbidium orchids set into a leaf base and draped with LCD lights as a finishing touch. not shown is the draped magnolia branch feature and 6 feet of height.

9208/9209 is a European botanical linear vertical line creation of Pacific giant delphinium, a new variety of blue/purple iris with yellow iris, moss, large leaves set into a ceramic base with  sword fern and plaited palm leaves a wow factor of grass tree, bound with gold bullion set into triangular features to tie background to focal point and stacked delphinium flowers with spinning gum leaves. 1m high x 70cm wide

9205/ 9206 shows an old fashioned candleabra which we brought into a modern theme, using an asymetrical style with scrolling and feathering, silver bullion, red roses and green cymbidiums- leaf wrapped and suspended, palm leaves and raffia weaving in and around the wrought iron. 1.2 metres

9201, 9202 and 9208 were a crescent cascade design using a cornucopia style of andromeda, gold roses and dodda set into a leaf base with moss and skeleton leaves, draped with gold bullion veiling on a bamboo riser. 70cm high

And the piece d' resistance'  of the day was our tribute to pink 9211 king proteas with silver leucodendron, shaped New Zealand flax which had the slightest hint of pink along its edges, with balsa roses set into a basket of rainforest vine, coconut fibre and palm with protea leaves and moss.

if you would like the free notes sheet from the day please email me.

hope you enjoy them and until next time....
keep flowering,...
